I built Quill to solve a problem I deal with every day.
I work with international clients across the US, UK, and other regions. Writing clearly and confidently matters. But sometimes, I still double-check my sentences before sending them.
My old workflow looked like this:
- Type a message
- Copy it
- Paste it into my grammar agent
- Wait for suggestions
- Copy it again
- Paste it back
It worked, but it slowed everything down.
And when you’re in the middle of a conversation, even a few seconds of friction adds up.
Turning a workflow into a product
Instead of relying on a separate tool, I decided to bring the solution directly into where I write.
That’s how Quill started.
A Chrome extension that lets you fix your grammar instantly without leaving the page.
How Quill works
The interaction is simple and fast:
- Type normally (WhatsApp Web, Upwork, or anywhere)
- Highlight the sentence
- Click Fix Grammar
- Review the suggested changes
- Accept or dismiss
Here’s a quick look:
Quill highlights exactly what changed, so you stay in control and understand the improvements.
Built with AI, designed for real usage
Quill is powered by Claude Sonnet 4.6.
From a development perspective, this involved:
- handling text selection across websites
- injecting UI elements dynamically
- building a fast feedback loop between user action and AI response
From a product perspective, the focus was simple:
make the experience fast, clear, and interruption-free.
What this unlocked for me
This project reinforced something important:
Small, repeated frustrations are often the best product ideas.
Quill started as a personal tool. Now it’s something I can share, improve, and potentially scale.
I built this for myself first, but I’ll be releasing Quill on the Chrome Web Store very soon. So stay tune!
